You are expressing yourself through drum making!
A lifetime of fun awaits you. Please know it is a hand drum. Never
hit your drum with anything but your hand or the head will tear.
Always remove all your rings before playing your drum because they
will tear the head too.
The drumhead is made of goat skin
and it is affected by weather. When it is humid or rainy, the head
will loosen and playability will be affected. Warming the drumhead
will help this. Turn the drum upside down and point a hair dryer
towards the head from the bottom of the drum for less than a minute.
This will make the skin tighten.
If you need to rejuvenate your drumhead
or it seems too tight, lightly spray the top of the drumhead with
water. If the drum head has crinkled or puckered, put a damp washcloth
folded in half on top, and let dry for 24-48 hours. Do not soak
the head. If you get it too wet, the glue on the sides may loosen.
Never leave your drum sit directly in the sun. This will really
tighten the drumhead and it may pop off the drum. Don't let it sit
in a hot car for very long either.
Treat your drum with respect and care and it will last. It is a
fine instrument.
